Our new favourite band have released a new single Nighttime, taken from their outstanding debut album Amphetamine Ballads. Here is a suitably dark, hallucinatory video to accompany it. . Continue reading Video: The Amazing Snakeheads – Nighttime
Courtly Love are merging bluesy tones with psychedelic hazes; a brand-new quintet from East London and one of those rare musical collectives who appear to have arrived fully formed and armed with clutch of quite wonderful tunes. They produce a gorgeous smouldering psych blues fusion, mixing the dark gutter glamour of the Velvets & Nico with the cinematic doomed grandeur of Serge Gainsbourg. Watch the … Continue reading Video: Courtly Love – Mirage
We’re loving Mick Jagger, (never imagined we’d be writing that), a six minute epic of resigned, weary psych-rock from rising Brooklyn five-piece Baked. It is the centrepiece of their forthcoming debut album Debt which mixes foggy, laid back psychedelia with flashes of fuzzed-up punk, indie rock and hazy pop to create a sonic whole of hypnotic rhythms and lush instrumentation. This is a record to lay … Continue reading Introducing >>> Baked

Americana rockers The Zilis have just released their new single, Diamondback, taken from their recently released album Sketches II. The trio blends roots rock with shades of blues and folk, and the single sets off at a gallop before slowing down around half way through for a tasty brass interlude and building back up for an epic finale. Have a listen. . Continue reading Introducing >>> The Zilis
In 2012 Mikael Caterer left Melbourne, Australia and settled in Brooklyn, NY with the rest of his band, Scott & Charlene’s Wedding. Beginning just before the move, and in between his hours spent teaching kindergarten and touring, Caterer wrote his first solo effort, an EP for a new project called Shorts. To help round out and eventually record the demos, Caterer asked friends from his … Continue reading Introducing >>> SHORTS
A lovely slice of twinkling, melancholic Americana with a film-noir feel as a lonely man is haunted by his dreams through an LA nightscape. Moment of Fame is the closing track on Sugarplum Fairies forthcoming album Godspeed and Silver Linings. . . Continue reading Video: Sugarplum Fairies – Moment Of Fame
The KVB is the audio/visual project of London youngsters, Nicholas Wood and Kat Day, who combine reverb heavy wall of sound guitars, minimal haunting strings and grinding bass synths with messed up motorik drum machine beats and delay drenched vocals. Their Out Of Body mini album will be released on the 3rd June on A Recordings, and the sonically hypnotic Across The Sea is more … Continue reading Mad Mackerel Recommends… The KVB
