MM Shorts 267: The Dirty Nil
Little Metal baby Fist is the latest single from The Dirty Nil. Available for a pay what you want deal on their Bandcamp. By way of explanation, The Dirty Nil recording experience is dependent on beer, blood, broken bones, broken instruments, broken ears, inescapable loudness, screaming, unresolved girl problems, exposed wiring, no pants, no shoes, making their producer drink more than he wants to, a … Continue reading MM Shorts 267: The Dirty Nil
MM Shorts 266: Bottom Dollars
We first became switched on to Bottom Dollars when we downloaded their recent Daytrotter Session. In particular the near ten minute epic of Fall Into Arms, a southern-tinged indie rocker, which has one of the best, and most insistent, openings of any song we’ve heard all year. It is a nailed on, pedal-to-the-floor tune for the open road! A bit of further investigation revealed a … Continue reading MM Shorts 266: Bottom Dollars

Download it below. … Continue reading New From Die Mason Die

Although this has been out for a while and we’re late to the party, as soon as we’d heard the track Dawns Man by Red River Dialect we knew we would still have to post it for any other poor unfortunates like us who have yet to discover the song. The damn thing has been on near constant repeat… The band hail from Cornwall and their … Continue reading Mad Mackerel Recommends…Red River Dialect

MM Shorts 265: Gospel Claws
Off and on throughout 2012, Gospel Claws have been recording songs for their second LP Put Your Sunshine Away (out next week). With songs influenced by ‘50s doo-wop and further exploration of vintage sonics and recording techniques, the band have created a sound that is distinctly their own. Proof can be found in the sweet chimes, easy going strum and vintage vocals of Hambone. Download Gospel … Continue reading MM Shorts 265: Gospel Claws
Introducing >>> Black Market Karma
We have been meaning to post about the heavy psychedelic sonics of Black Market Karma for much too long. Mining a similar sonic vein stretching from Hawkwind to Spacemen 3 and through to current space rock doyens like Wooden Shjips, Moon Duo and the Black Angels, they are nothing if not prolific as they are now into recording their fourth album of 2012 alone. Their first album … Continue reading Introducing >>> Black Market Karma

Time for another trawl through the in-box and round our favourite music sites to bring you a whole host of goodies to enjoy. First up is a new free song from Bear Driver – layers of sound create a swooning dream pop song of chiming surfed up guitar lines, clattering drums, and melancholic synths. This newly built sound they have dubbed ‘patchwork-pop’! a Widowspeak have a … Continue reading Round Up Time Again
