Following on from our Monday Morning Round Up post, here is a second instalment of another eight fine tunes that we have uncovered whilst trying to catch up with our in-box.

All starting with some easy going country rock from Americana band The Afternoon Edition. The solid harmonies and laid back approach on their debut single Canyon Lights recalls such greats as The Band and Crosby Stills Nash and Young.

Having drawn comparisons to everyone from Syd Barrett, to Robyn Hitchcock and Ennio Morricone, Between the Channels is the brilliant second single of gently pulsating psychedelia and motorik rhythms taken from J Fernandez’s new album Many Levels Of Laughter.

Apache Sun are a psych-rock band from Glasgow and new single Silhouettes is a undeniably groovy, blissed out paean to the tripped out sixties – all kaftans, kaleidoscopes and lava lamps.

Tough Age released their new album I Get The Feeling Central last week. Twelve songs of incendiary garage punk with none better than the scuzzed up twang and ferocious surf licks of New Orleans Square.

Goodcat are an indie folk band from Des Moines and Time & Space is taken from recent album release Keep Sinking In. It is a lovely slice of pastorally tinged orchestral folk that is somewhat reminiscent of Loch Lomond. Lovely stuff.

In a similar vein, Ash & Iron is a band from southern Sweden, that expertly fuse nordic melancholy and Americana to create sharp and distinct songwriting with a sound that reminds us of bards like Neil Young and James Taylor. Listen to the lovely Wolves.

Abandoned Delta have just released their self-titled debut album and it is a unhurried, reflective collection of alt-country that gets better with every listen. Try album opener Black Car.

Lastly FANS take dark and brooding indie rock to new heights (or should that be lows) with gothic tinged new single If God Is Real, all driving guitars and metronome percussion to create an almost palpable sense of isolation and suffocation.
