Tomorrow, June 7th, sees the release of Larceny & Old Lace, the new album by The Coathangers.
It is their third full length record and sees the scrappy, devil-may-care anarchy of their earlier releases tightened up a smidgeon and the repertoire expanded a little sonically. The outcome is still full-on garage rock, but this time there are some twists with the thrash and while the irony and the venom of the lyrics also remain, the girls have also branched out in new directions here too.
Check out the more considered blues punk burn of Trailer Park Boneyard and the album’s lead single Hurricane.
With Larceny & OLd Lace, The Coathangers have well and truly thrown the gauntlet down and then gleefully stomped it into whimpering submission.
