Hailing from Denver and disparate points around the UK,Blind Atlas came together in the bohemian suburbs of south Manchester, united by a shared preoccupation with drinking, failed relationships and the Flying Burrito Brothers.
Having released a couple of singles, the band have a new three track EP, Iron Wall, out now. The title track is an epic, dark, tribal piece of music and the finale to their live performances. Next, the band put down their electric guitars and picked up acoustic instruments for Mary Anne and produced a laid-back country song, which is as good as any we’ve heard recently – influences can be heard from the likes of Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris. Lastly, My Proud Mountains, originally written and recorded by Townes Van Zandt in 1969, is a long time favorite of the band. A classic tale of leaving home in search of something but always longing to be back, they have reworked the song, adding sweet harmonies and delicate electric guitar.
