Since early 2010, Chicago indie-folk songwriter Christian Keck has performed and recorded as Fall Fox: a moniker fitting for an outfit that has drawn comparisons to lo-fi folk acts such as The Mountain Goats and Ghost Mice. Throughout the project, Keck has embraced the DIY bedroom pop aesthetic, weaving acoustic guitars together with analog synths to form an intimate and inviting canopy of sound.
The followup to Fall Fox’s self-titled debut EP, Any Everywhere leaves the realm of fable and engages with a more individualized space of isolation, reflection and memory. Written and recorded during the winter storms of 2010, the EP resonates with the kind of warm solitude that can only be cultivated while shut in by two feet of snow. Like his earlier work, Any Everywhere takes root in raw, organic textures scattered with old-world lyrical idiosyncrasies. By transforming personal experience into individual mythology, Fall Fox occupies a space between the antiquated and the as-yet undiscovered.
Any Everywhere will be released on November 7th, take a listen to Girl King below, or to the whole EP from his Bandcamp page here.
