We must confess to be taking a bit by surprise by this. Described as being “full of washed out guitars, punctuated with equal parts textual synths and reverb“, it didn’t really sound like it was going to be up our proverbial street.
However, proof once more that we should never pre-judge, because once we’d played Suburban Living’s first single, Float In Clouds from sophomore EP Cooper’s Dream (out on 31st July) it was clear we’d found ourselves a real treat. It is a supremely assured mix of lo-fi garage riffs and shimmering dream pop which combine to produce an infectiously catchy summery track. Unusually though there is nothing disposable about this, Float In Clouds has a backbone of real substance.
The project of twenty year-old multi-instrumentalist and Norfolk, VA native, Wesley Bunch, he has certainly marked himself out as one to watch. Download it below.
