The meandering piano lines and ethereal sounds of Dark Dark Dark’s latest album Who Needs Who, are a joy to listen to, and now the band has announced three brand new tracks released especially for Record Store Day in the UK.
Each track is a band favourite held back for a special occasion, these are songs from the Who Needs Who recording sessions deemed worthy of their own distinctive place. Recorded in the aftermath of a relationship breakdown between the band’s co-founders, each song remains as personal as the work you’ll hear on the LP, but finds small departures to explore.
What I Needed is streaming now, Nona Marie Invie’s vocals recalling classic cuts from The Shangri-Las, her coy choir behind her nailing the perfect 1960s sound. With a sweeping romantic melody and chilling vocals still present and correct, it is a perfect reminder of what makes the Minneapolis quintet so exceptional. The other two tracks are Love Lies and I Collect Things.
