Firstly, a great name. We have a strange fondness for bands with Owls in their title, and Owls Of The Swamp don’t disappoint on any level.

In truth it is the atmospheric indie-folk project of Australian songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Pete Uhlenbruch. Following the release of 2011’s much vaunted Go With River album, he has returned with a gorgeous new single, The Hypnotist which tells the story of a haunted relationship between a hypnotist and his estranged lover. It is a masterpiece of elegiac fingerpicked folk, softly spun melody, and ghostly backing vocals from special guest Markéta Irglová (The Swell Season).
