Bête-Noire caught our ears with the chiming, post-punk of Out and Proud and the uncompromising lyrics…

“Just turn around you filthy fuckers

when you were out and proud
you settled the score,
you seem so out and proud“.

Then we tried the even better Shut Your Mouth with its rumbling bass-line, doom-laden vocals and urgent percussion. While the Chameleons and Magazine influences are readily to the fore, there is something of Television’s sinewy guitar lines and even something of Felt’s art rock lurking in there too.
