It strikes me that you have to be pretty brave to try and forge a music career with the surname Presley. On the evidence of Come Calling, in the case of John J Presley we are mighty glad he did.

It is the first track to be shared from his new White Ink EP (out 24th July). Citing Son House’s Mississippi Delta blues and Mogwai’s dissonant tunings and drones as influences in equal measure, Presley’s no-frills approach to the blues is rooted in his distinguished record collection and penchant for vintage guitars.

Come Calling is a scuzzy, blues rocker with down-tuned riffs, white hot percussion and tar-soaked vocals, that growls as much as it howls.
