Boogarins began playing music together as teenagers in the central Brazilian city of Goiânia– recording psychedelic pop in their parents’ gardens. The group’s debut LP, As Plantas Que Curam, released in 2013, was an acclaimed lo-fi home recording, reviving ‘60s Tropicalismo and speaking directly to their Brazilian audience with Portuguese-sung rock and roll.
Now Boogarins have returned with Manual, veering into more complex musical territory, propelled by dense, two-guitar interplay and deep rhythms, with the songwriting much more socially conscious than before, offering a “free ride to the dissolution of your dreams”.
Dream of a psychedelic road trip through the Brazilian mountains with 6000 Dias, the first single to be taken from the record which is out on October 30 on Other Music, with Burger Records releasing a special cassette of the album.
