MM Shorts 824: Elijah Ocean

It has been a few months since we’ve posted anything from criminally under-rated singer-songwriter Elijah Ocean. This new track, Pasadena, has just popped up in our Soundcloud feed, and does more than enough to prove our point. It is another lovely slice of wistful, rolling  Americana that calls to mind such luminaries of the scene as Sufjan Stevens or Iron And Wine. Stream it here.   Continue reading MM Shorts 824: Elijah Ocean

Pinemen – Predictions

We’ve previously posted a couple of tracks from Stockholm garage rock combo Pinemen. Following on from their six-track debut EP Pleasant Pain, which found the band exploring garage rock, lo-fi pop and psychedelia, in a summery sound with a Scandinavian twist, the band is currently recording their debut LP. The album is scheduled for a autumn release this year, but in the meantime they’re releasing the stand-alone single … Continue reading Pinemen – Predictions

New Video: Parquet Courts – Berlin Got Blurry

Parquet Courts have shared the video for new song Berlin Got Blurry from forthcoming long player Human Performance. It tells a tale of existential nausea, confusion, and finding oneself in a place you don’t recognise and is one of the band’s most accessible songs yet, a jangly affair with a serpentine guitar lick that’s as dizzying as it is memorable. Watch it below.   Continue reading New Video: Parquet Courts – Berlin Got Blurry

MM Shorts 823: Big Ups

Big Ups will release new long player Before A Million Universes on the 4th March. They have shared a new track from it – the ferocious Hope for Someone, which conjures a striking middle ground between the all-out attack of Hoover or Drive Like Jehu with the driving proto-punk of Wipers at their most propulsive – and all in less than two and a half minutes. … Continue reading MM Shorts 823: Big Ups
