We have had a taste already from the Young Knives forthcoming album Sick Octave, which sees a release on November 4th following a successful Kickstarter campaign. Here is another, and Something Awful would seem to confirm that the three piece have gleefully taken a sharp left to deliver something darker and more industrial than anything they have done before. The band say of the song, “Something … Continue reading New Young Knives Track
Brooklyn’s Graveyard Kids are back with a new single and keeping the garage rock theme going of the day. While not as visceral as our earlier Oil Boom post, this track Jor G is equally good – just over two minutes of jerky, insistent garage pop that descends into musical chaos about half-way through before recovering only to collapse in on itself again at the end. Download … Continue reading New Graveyard Kids Single
Loving this track from Oil Boom, 45 Revolutions Per Minute is a full-on, high octane garage rocker in the vein of the Hives or the Vines. This is primal rock’n’roll just the way we like it – loud, fast and furious. Buy from Bandcamp here. Continue reading MM Shorts 438: Oil Boom
Cold Blooded is the first taste from Knives and Teeth, the third long player from American Babies. We’ve been fans of Detroit’s Dirtbombs since we first came across their two excellent albums released at the start of the millennium, Ultraglide In Black and Dangerous Magical Noise. Unconventional garage punks, equally at home mixing in soul, R&B and surf-pop as they are covering techno classics, their latest album is Ooey Gooey Chewy Ka-Blooey. And as if the title didn’t give it away, this time they are … Continue reading New Dirtbombs Album
