Fragility is the tasty b-side to recent White Fence single Pink Gorilla and is another cracking example of their crackling, distorted garage rock. New album Cyclops Reap is due on 9th April. And the A-side. Continue reading MM Shorts 337: White Fence’s Fragility

Having raved about the first taste of Aussie band Lower Plenty’s album Hard Rubbish back in January, here is another perfectly judged track of hazy countrified melancholia in the shape of Nullarbor. The album is out on Fire Records on the 1st April. Continue reading MM Shorts 335: More From Lower Plenty
White Woods is the project of Julia Kugel, better known for her work as the guitarist and vocalist for Atlanta’s riotous garage rockers The Coathangers. Now she is back with another offering, exploring the same kind of sultry … Continue reading New Single From White Woods

Like Vic Chesnutt and Mark Linkous (of Sparklehorse), Jason Molina was a truly unique songwriting voice, a genuine poet who could capture in a few short lines what others would fail to say in a whole song. That he should lose his battle with alcoholism at the age of just 39 is a tragedy. Download Songs: Ohia – Two Blue Lights mp3 (from Didn’t It … Continue reading R.I.P. Jason Molina
A long time ago when we were on the hideous Google blogspot platform we posted about the unique and dislocated folk of Thirty Pounds Of Bone (aka singer-songwriter Johny Lamb). So the news that he has a new album titled I Cannot Sing You Here, But For Songs Of Where, due out on the 6th May via Armellodie Records was especially good to hear. Even more so when … Continue reading New Album From Thirty Pounds Of Bone
According to the press release, Post War Glamour Girls have built up a formidable reputation within Leeds music scene. Apparently they spit desolate, often surreal narratives over literate rock and roll foundations, pitched somewhere between The Birthday Party if they’d hailed from England’s industrial North and the Smiths if their dissatisfaction had boiled over. So, are the claims justified? The band will release Jazz Funerals … Continue reading Introducing >>> Post War Glamour Girls
