Follow @madmackerelFollowing our Best of February mix post earlier, we have now rounded up a few tunes for the start of March for you too.
We can offer you ten cracking new tracks to listen to including post-folkies Peggy Sue, the heavy, slow burnin’ garage punk of Twin Berlin, some rootsy soul from Greyhounds, the first single of gritty Americana from Turchi’s forthcoming long-player, and a fabulous cover of Jason Molina’s Alone With The Owl by Sarah Jaffe from the forthcoming Molina tribute album Farewell Transmission.
There is also Fear Of Men’s excellent new single Luna, Dawn Landes’ heart-wrenching new single Try To Make A Fire Burn Again, some shoegazing style sludgy indie from Weed, and catchy pop-punk from BRONCHO. Lastly, we have another cover to finish, Lady Lamb The Beekeeper’s version of Kurt Vile’s Girl Called Alex.

Follow @madmackerelPeggy Sue’s new album Choir Of Echoes will be out in January on Yep Roc Records.
We were big fans of their previous release of noirish folk Acrobats and of the new record, the band says “Choir of Echoes is an album about singing. About losing your voice and finding it again. Voices keeping each other company and voices competing for space. The call and response of the kindest and the cruelest words. Choruses. Duets. Whispers and shouts.”
The first taste comes in the form of the outstanding Idle, described as a kind of troubled gospel song.
Follow @madmackerelWe were big fans of Peggy Sue’s excellent debut long player Fossils And Other Phantoms, and recently had our appetites whetted for the forthcoming new album Acrobats on Marc Riley’s 6 Music show when he played out one evening with the six minute, slow brooding burn of Cut My Teeth. While the darkness of the first album clearly remains intact, this has a heavier, more viscous feel and we’re really rather taken with it.
Until now it has been available for the price of an e-mail on their website, but Spinner have made it available as an mp3 Of The Day, so we figured a deserved re-post should be OK.
Download the song. Buy the album when it comes out on September 12th via Wichita.

You can also listen to another track, Song & Dance from the album here too.
