Lo-fi hipsters Male Bonding are from the UK, and have recently signed to US indie legends Sub Pop. Their debut album is titled Nothing Hurts and early indications are that it is going to be a superior mix of reverb laden fuzzy pop and high velocity punk – that’s the same mix which is so common at the moment admittedly – but that which, to MM’s ears, this trio is doing very much better than most.
Try Franklin from the album. Catchy it is, but more melodic noise-pop than you might expect. It gives a nod to the past whilst happily looking forwards with no thought for the consequences. Oh to be young again!
The album is out on Tuesday, you can order from Sub Pop here and before the 11th get a bonus cassette into the bargain.
