Mad Mackerel Recommends…Spectrals

Underwater Peoples is one of our favourite labels and so we were delighted to recently receive an e- mail from them about Spectrals and their forthcoming new EP.

Hailing from the small town of Heckmondwike, 10 miles south-west from Leeds, Louis Jones is softly spoken with a shock of ginger hair. He was brought up on a mixture of soul, Motown and doo-wop, and as you might expect, Spectrals’ influences include Phil Spector (hence the name), Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Isley Brothers alongside a healthy dose of good old garage rock.

You can watch the video for Peppermint below, and then download our sample track, the hazy, lo-fi and reverbed goodness that is Chip A Tooth (Spoil A Smile).

Both come from their new A Spectrals Extended Play EP.

You can order direct from the label here.

Visit their MySpace here.
