We recently received a short e-mail from Woollongong, Australia resident Rowan Galagher asking if we were interested in “psychedelic folk noir”?

Our response was “who wouldn’t be”, and thankfully Mr Galagher, under the moniker The Mad Pride,  turns out to be a mighty fine provider of such tunes. With clear reference points from Syd Barrett to Leonard Cohen and more recently Mathew Sawyer & The Ghosts, we have three excellent songs for you to sample below.

And just in case you were wondering The Mad Pride name comes from a reference to the mass movement known as ‘Mad Pride’.

“Mad Pride activists seek to re-educate the general public on such subjects as the causes of mental disorders, the experiences of those using the mental health system, and the global suicide pandemic.”
