Colossal Gospel hail from Alabama and spent six months recording their debut album Circles.

The band is made up of just Chris Johnson & Stephen Weibelt, and yet throughout the album they are able to create a gorgeous, warm intimacy that somehow sounds bigger than just a duo. Theirs is a traditional folk sound, but one that benefits from carefully constructed lyrics and smooth, choral harmonies that evoke the comfort of a fireside hearth as much as they do a campfire.

The care that has gone into the record is evident from the first note to the last and standout tracks are plentiful from the fragile beauty of Observer And Creature to the a capella tinged strum of River Return Me. Special mention too for the sublime nine minute long I Have A Heart, I Have A Heart that reminded us of Lambchop at their best.
