We’ve posted a couple of times recently about The Shrouded Strangers following our discovery of Featherbed, one of our favourite tracks of the year so far.
They formed in 1999 in Harrisonburg, Virginia and promptly dropped their debut LP, Yes, We Are the Shrouded Strangers, a convoluted concept album about nature vs. technology. Then they got sidetracked.
Resurrecting the band in 2008, they released a EP and soon after rented a cabin in the methy-woods of Guerneville and wrote and recorded most of what has become their newly released follow-up album Lost Forever.
After a 13 year hiatus, the album is an absolute masterclass in whiskey-soaked hillbilly stompers, fuzzed-up psych freak outs, and white-noise wigouts jumping effortlessly from one to another with nary a backwards glance and certainly no false steps.
