Mad Mackerel Recommends...Fire Mountain.

Since their formation in the latter half of 2009, Fire Mountain have combined folk and Southern rock to create something rich and complex while still maintaining a simplicity that is familiar to everyone as they weave tales of triumph and disaster, of love and loss and of the everyday experiences that affect us all.

Nowhere is this more evident than in the rolling strum and sway of the gorgeous Black Heart, the opening track of their EP Of The Dust. Shot through with melancholy and just a tinge of possible redemption (“You put your best face on, the one with the beautiful tears”), it sets the tone for an outstanding collection of rootsy Americana that will find just as many fans in the Bon Iver camp as it will in the Drive-By Truckers one.

In October they will be recording a session for Daytrotter and in December they start work on their first full length album. Until then you can buy the EP as a handprinted CD, or get a ‘name your price’ download, from their Bandcamp page here.
