On this new single out on Butterscotch Records, Mikael Jorgensen, the keyboardist for Wilco has teamed up with label-mate Austin Donohue of Graph Rabbit to recreate Spacemen 3′s brilliant song Ode to Street Hassle from their iconic 1987 album The Perfect Prescription. The song is, of course, a tribute to Lou Reed’s 1978 album by the same title.

Using bits and pieces of classical music gathered from the radio, Jorgensen’s production makes for a dreamy but fractured track that effortlessly lifts Donohue’s ethereal vocal. Together they have captured the hazy, druggy feeling of the original track in a completely new and unexpected way.
