Much heralded London six-piece Sports Team will release their debut album Deep Down Happy on the 19th June. It is collection of sharply drawn pen portraits of small-town torments, inequality and escapism that documents modern Britain in all its messy, messed-up complexity.
They have shared a new single and video from it and the upbeat, hectic Going Soft is about a vibrant slice of exuberant indie rock as you could hope to hear.
The video is compiled from footage filmed by friends and fans over the last year of life on the road and is an excellent reminder of the joys and highs of live music. Alex Rice from the band describes it as “a short history of the last two years really, ending with the last show before all this happened at our local, The Nags Head. Hopefully the whole thing is a reminder of how good live music can be, that if you’re a kid who should be going to their first show about now then live music isn’t an acoustic cover on IG Live, it’s something really special.”
