Acclaimed jewel of dark country blues Cash Savage, and her band The Last Drinks, release their second LP The Hypnotiser on Friday 2 August. A mix of blues, hardscrabble barn-dance stompers, psychedelic country and raw soul, the record swings from emotion to emotion – one minute mournful lament, the next bare knuckled rage with nary a backwards glance. It is a record that is at once … Continue reading New Album From Cash Savage And The Last Drinks
Although still very much a fledgling band, Brighton’s Morning Smoke are clearly in possession of already finely honed skills and craftsmanship. The two tracks here are a sweetener for their EP In Euphoria, which is due in October. DYWD roars in on pulsating drums and vocals echoing Joy Division before the song quickly unfolds with a statuesque controlled power – it’s a short sharp clarion call … Continue reading Introducing >>> Morning Smoke

Dim Peaks is a California-based band, their new album Time of Joy was recorded in semi-sporadic sessions over the course of a year. Then we tried the even better Shut Your Mouth with its rumbling bass-line, doom-laden vocals and urgent percussion. While the Chameleons and Magazine influences are readily to … Continue reading Introducing >>> Bête-Noire
Elevator is the first single from TV Ghost’s forthcoming album Disconnect. They have incorporated churning rhythms and psychedelic drone into a lush torrent of sprawling guitars and eerie melody – drawing from Can’s hypnotic krautrock, while infectiously adding a grinding, goth sludge of Heaven Up Here-era Bunnymen. Over it all stark, disconnected vocals deliver a maelstrom of brooding, sonic menace. Love this. Listen to it here. Continue reading New From TV Ghost
