We’ve grabbed ourselves a whole host of free stuff recently from Noisetrade, Insound and American Songwriter that is just too good not to share. Noisetrade have put up free downloads from Said The Whale, Josh Rouse & The Long Vacations, Rachael Yamagata, The Kansas Bible Country and Joshua James (with a free download of his brilliant 2009 album Build Me This). Insound’s latest free mixtape features (amongst … Continue reading Lots Of Free Stuff
We missed this first time round in the deluge of Halloween themed songs and videos that came our way, which is a pity as this is easily amongst the best of them. It is New York indie band’s Linfinity’s free Halloween single offering. Originally recorded for a horror film surrounding a child plagued by night terrors in a psych ward, both songs are stripped down and … Continue reading MM Shorts 263: Linfinity

Tracks like Eva … Continue reading New From Indian Jewelry

Fronted by Alex Casnoff, former keyboard player for Dawes and PAPA, Harriet released their debut EP Tell The Right Story for free download earlier this year. The five song offering straddles the line between classic Americana songs and the sonic experimentation of electronic music and earned the band praise from many sources including us. The band is currently supporting AC Newman on a run of … Continue reading Free Download From Harriet

Just call me the Hoarse Whisperer. This week a suitably seasonal cold virus left me a muted, aching snot monster, forced to communicate via hand and arm signals that cast me somewhere between a (somewhat troubled) cricket umpire and a football referee. It has also rendered me powerless to children and animals, not necessarily in that order. HP suggested helpfully that I might like to … Continue reading Mrs Mackerel’s TFI Friday (9th November)
