Fiver was birthed in 2012 as a medium for Simone Schmidt (The Highest Order & One Hundred Dollars) to write and record original material – and boy are we glad she did! Solo album Lost The Plot is a dynamic beast, sometimes personal, and undoubtedly political. The nine songs engage the spirit and soul – introspective at times, others, outgoing and frenetic, even treading into … Continue reading Introducing >>> Fiver
Just The Dudes is a new three track EP from The Sweets. It dips its fingers into many musical pies – shoegaze, psychedelia, garage pop, and then coats them with hazy swirls of reverb and gentle distortion that is definitely more than moreish. Check out the delightfully woozy, surf-pop of She Says below, and order a limited run cassette or as a digital download from … Continue reading MM Shorts 404: The Sweets
Sleepsick is the lead single from Toronto’s Dinosaur Bones’ upcoming album, Shaky Dream, which drops on the 6th via Dine Alone Records. We last featured them nearly three years ago, but happily they have stayed true to their mix of off-kilter, broody indie rock and NYC garage – Sleepsick is an alluring, hooked out blend of dark pop that we’re enjoying very much. Download it … Continue reading Dinosaur Bones – Sleepsick
SNØFFELTØFFS is a great band name and when you throw into the mix the Berlin duo’s desire to unleash “the absolute power of garage punk and rock’n roll.”, it was always pretty likely that we would become fans. I See Hawks In L.A. | The Brasenose Arms, Cropredy | 30 June 2013 There is a classic moment in the Blues Brothers movie where upon being asked what kind of music they usually have playing, the barmaid brightly answers “Oh we got both kinds, we’ve got Country and Western“. And so it was with I See Hawks In L.A. who are in the UK … Continue reading Live Review: I See Hawks In L.A.
