Taking their name from the short-lived 1959-60 TV private detective series, Bourbon Street Beat are (as you’d might expect) inspired by 50s and 60s bands such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Band, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, as well as rock’n’roll legends like Elvis, Buddy Holly and Johnny Cash. Each of these influences are apparent in technique and style, yet cleverly and confidently reinterpreted to give the band a contemporary feel and an indie edge.
New single Crossing On a Bend takes the listener on a seamless journey from the 1950s to the late 1960s and back again, all inside two and half minutes, while B side She’s His Woman, is if anything even better, being a bitterly melancholic Country rumble with a rockabilly edge.
Fabulous cover art too! Have a listen.
