We’re a bit late to Dead Cherry, who are releasing their second single C.R.E.E.P. imminently, but it gave us the opportunity to go back and check out (and share) their excellent first single Every Sale Is The Same, which came out a couple of months ago.
Mining a deep and varied vein of influence, it’s unsurprising to hear the band namecheck the likes of Jack Kerouac and Hunter S Thompson as often as more musical names, especially once one has digested the stream-of-consciousness lyricism, and the piss and vinegar with which its delivered. Taking metaphorical pot shots at capitalists and communists alike, all the while channelling spoken word poetry, motorik krautrock and epoch psychedelia into an explosive and blistering amalgam that can truly be called unique.
Give it a listen.
